I am the Manatee (Manatee).I lived in the West Indies before the arrival of Christopher Columbus (1492).Native Americans, Caribbean and Arawaks hunted me for my flesh and my bones.But overall, at the time, we got along rather well.To the point that an Amerindian artist from Guadeloupe (or the surrounding area) carved me in a piece of conch (beautiful shell of the Antilles), with a finesse of details and a stylized realism stupefying for someone who did not have any metal tool.
