  • Communicator Belt Holster 3D Print Model

Communicator Belt Holster 3D Print Model

    Summary
The Star Trek TOS communicator made by The Wand Company is a great prop replica. The only downside to it is you can’t put Velcro on the back and wear it like they did in the show. They were nice enough to give you a pouch to put it in, but that just provides some protection if you pocket carry it. I like to use mine to listen to podcasts while puttering around the house. The speaker is not super loud so putting it in a pocket also means I won’t be able to hear it.
I decided to create a holster that could be worn on the belt that would capture the feel of the way the communicator is meant to be worn. This holster leaves the front of the communicator unobstructed so I can get the maximum sound from the speaker.
To make the holster you will need 2 neodymium magnets ½” x 1/8” disc shaped. I used M12x18DI from Apex Magnets. Also, you will need some black peel and stick felt which you can get at any craft store.
You need to 3D print the main holster. I print mine with the flat side on the print bed and with support type set to everywhere and fill amount at 10% (cura). This provides support for the bottom lip that keeps the communicator from falling. You will probably have to do some filing to smooth down the areas where the supports printed. Once that is done, super glue the 2 magnets into the holes in the holster. Note: determine the proper polarity of the magnets first by sticking them to the back of the communicator and make sure you glue them in the right way. Once the glue is dry cut a piece of felt and place it over the back to hide the magnets and keep the communicator from getting scratched.
Next you need a belt clip. I did not feel the need to re-invent the wheel on this, as there are a number of belt clips available on Thingiverse. I used this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:35940 Maybe you are a serious cosplayer and already have a uniform with pants that has Velcro on it. I guess you could skip the belt clip and put Velcro on the back to attach the holster directly to your pants.
There are a couple of things you could also do if you are so inclined. The only element missing now is the Velcro rip sound when you remove the communicator. You could put a small piece of Velcro on the communicator near the top, high enough so it won’t interfere with the recharging base. Then you would get the appropriate Velcro sound when you call for that emergency beam up.

  • Nerf Barrel Attachment 3D Print Model

Nerf Barrel Attachment 3D Print Model

    Summary
This is a custom 3D printable Nerf-compatible barrel attachment. It’s a 3-piece design so you can very easily customize the colors. All the parts need to be epoxied together. If anything doesn’t fit well, try scaling one or more of the parts by several percent to adjust the fitment. You’ll need to print my “locking ring” in addition to secure this to a Nerf Blaster (see below).
My hope is that people use this barrel attachment as an example of how to use my locking ring to make custom Nerf barrel attachments. All the hard stuff is in the locking ring which makes a custom barrel very easy to design & build. I hope to get people sharing more of their cool custom attachments to spread around the online community.
The “base” part needs to be printed with support, the “middle” and “top” parts do not need support.
In order to attach this to a Nerf blaster you’ll need to print a locking ring from here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2910094
I’ve included the IGS files for most of the parts in case anyone wants to modify them, add features, etc so they can further customize this design. Just post anything you share as a remix so others can more easily find it.
This is my first Nerf-related donation to the free 3D printing pool. I have other cool designs I offer for sale on my Etsy Shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/AM34Designs

  • WilderRig-PopSinker 3D Print Model

    WilderRig-PopSinker 3D Print Model

    Summary
It got it name because it act as a POPPER and can dive with a steady retrieve and hold its depth rising slowly. Like the Mini-Bite with the treble hook dressed it moves though thin weeds very well.
I print with a 2 part file stopping at the point I want to drop the BB’s in, but you can use the one file, pause the print, add your weight and continue that’s up to you.
It has a through hole to either add your wire or line and hook if that’s your preference. It has an air chamber in the top half and a belly chamber for up to 3 BB’s. Depending on the amount of infill and BB’s you use will determined how it sinks/floats.
I use different color PLA and a Sharpie maker to give it some life and as you can see in Pics it at-least fools the fish.
Good Luck and “GO GET SOME FISH!!!”

Conair Hair Dryer Nozzle Adapter 3D Print Model

    Summary
The nozzle for my Conair Infinity Pro hair dryer has 2 broken tabs. With only one holding tab and 3 other non-holding tabs left, the nozzle does not stay on to the dryer. This adapter fits snugly with the original nozzle and the hair dryer without having to glue it for me. It is printed with the ABS and recommended with other high temp filaments only. The print time for the 0.2 mm layer height, 30% infill will take about 30~60 min, depending on your speed settings.

Star Wars Legion Terrain – Lothal Merchant Crates (Rebels) 3D Print Model

    Summary
Two different sized crates based on those seen on Lothal in the TV series Star Wars Rebels. Not entirely sure what they’re for, but they were in the market scenes on Lothal, hence the name “Lothal Merchant Crate”. Multiple crates can be combined to create a makeshift barricades or just for scenery, and the larger crate can be oriented vertically or horizontally to offer heavy cover to trooper units (I think).
The miniature used for scale IS NOT MINE, all credit for the trooper model goes to sablebadger, who remixed dutchmogul’s model to make it legion compatable.

Compact 90 straight and cross for 15×15/OpenBeam/Makerbeam XL 3D Print Model

    Summary
This is a compact 90 degree brace for Openbeam/Makerbeam XL 15×15 extrusion. There are two versions – one is a straight 90, the other is a very handy 90 degree rotated variant so you can do crossovers. The crossover version is pictured in the as-built photo.
A couple of things make this design different than the numerous other corner braces out there. This one has channel grooves to keep the part stable, which makes for a really nice, sturdy brace. I also did countersunk holes to make for a nice clean installation.
You do need to print this with supports but cleanup isn’t bad.

TronXY X3 Z Axis Motor 3D Print Model

    Summary
the first time i built my printer, i hated how much unnecessary time i spent puting the Z motors.. everything was loose or not in perfect alignment. Then i found Lexa’s one and i loved it, except for one thing.. i had to screw the piece first and then the motor, which for me, was troublesome or unconfortable, so I created this piece which has the scew holes outside, so.. if you t-nut wasnt placed correctly you can fix it without too much trouble.
TL;DR; the screw holes are outside from the motor case so you can put the motor or the screws in whatever order you want.
    YOU WILL NEED:
3x m4 screws (i used only the 2 from the original ones, one on top and one on the side)

Created by writer Fabian Nicieza and artist/writer Rob Liefeld, the character first appeared in The New Mutants #98 (cover-dated February 1991). Initially Deadpool was depicted as a supervillain when he made his first appearance in The New Mutants and later in issues of X-Force, but later evolved into his more recognizable antiheroic persona. Deadpool, whose real name is Wade Wilson, is a disfigured and deeply disturbed mercenary and assassin with the superhuman ability of an accelerated healing factor and physical prowess. The character is known as the “Merc with a Mouth” because of his tendency to joke constantly, including his proclivity for breaking the fourth wall, a literary device used by the writers for humorous effect and running gags.2) Black Panther Helmet v1 3D print modelFile format:3Ds,OBJ,STL.Black Panther is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Jack Kirby, first appearing in Fantastic Four #52 (cover-dated July 1966) in the Silver Age of Comic Books. Black Panther’s real name is T’Challa, king and protector of the fictional African nation of Wakanda. Along with possessing enhanced abilities achieved through ancient Wakandan rituals of drinking the heart shaped herb, T’Challa also relies on his proficiency in science, rigorous physical training, hand-to-hand combat skills, and access to wealth and advanced technology to combat his enemies.Black Panther is the first superhero of African descent in mainstream American comics, having debuted years before early African American superheroes such as Marvel Comics’ the Falcon (1969), Luke Cage (1972) and Blade (1973), or DC Comics’ John Stewart in the role of Green Lantern (1971). In one comic book storyline, the Black Panther mantle is handled by Kasper Cole, a multiracial New York City police officer. Beginning as an impersonator, Cole would later take on the moniker of White Tiger and become an ally to T’Challa. The role of Black Panther and leadership of Wakanda is also given to T’Challa’s sister Shuri for a time when he is left recovering from critical injuries.Black Panther has made numerous appearances in various television shows, animated films and video games. The character is portrayed in live action by Chadwick Boseman in the 2016 film Captain America: Civil War, and the 2018 film Black Panther, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2011, Black Panther was ranked 51st overall on IGN’s “Top 100 Comic Books Heroes” list.3)Spider-Man Mask v1 3D print modelSpider-Man Mask v1The mask has removable eyesFile format: 3Ds,OBJ,STL.Spider-Man is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Steve Ditko, and first appeared in the anthology comic book Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962) in the Silver Age of Comic Books. The character is conceived as an orphan within the Marvel Universe named Peter Parker being raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben in New York City after his parents Richard and Mary Parker were killed in a plane crash. Lee and Ditko depicted the character as having to deal with the normal struggles of adolescence and financial issues with a large array of supporting characters such as J. Jonah Jameson, Daily Bugle editor and smear campaigner of Spider-Man and classmates such as Flash Thompson, Harry Osborn and romantic interests, Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson. His origin story depicts him as being bitten by a radioactive spider and thus acquiring spider-related power and abilities, such as the ability to cling to most surfaces, shoot spider-webs using wrist-mounted devices of his own invention, which he calls “web-shooters”, and react to danger quickly with his “spider-sense”, enabling him to combat his many superpowered foes, such as Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin and Venom. Also within the origin story, Spider-Man originally uses this power for stardom, but after letting a burglar escape who is responsible for shooting his uncle, he learns to use his power responsibly.4)Spider-Man Mask v2 3D print modelSpider-Man Mask v2The mask has removable eyesFile format: 3Ds,OBJ,STL.Spider-Man is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Also within the origin story, Spider-Man originally uses this power for stardom, but after letting a burglar escape who is responsible for shooting his uncle, he learns to use his power responsibly.5)Deathstroke Helmet for printing on a 3d printerFile format: STL,OBJ,3Ds,FBX.Deathstroke (Slade Joseph Wilson) is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The modele is really big so I recommend scaling it down to ~50% but YMMV. Mine pictured above was at 30% and I’d say that’s too small.
I tried to implement a base and water holes for healthier plants. I also added a circular riser so it can actually drain.

As far back as I can remember, every girlfriend I’ve ever had has had the habit of hanging their bras and panties on my exercise equipment. When I complained about it, they would always say something like “Well, you never use it!”.
Anyway, so I got this idea: Why not make a bra and panties hook that looks like exercise equipment? I mean it just seems like women would naturally gravitate towards using it for that express purpose.

The character is known as the “Merc with a Mouth” because of his tendency to joke constantly, including his proclivity for breaking the fourth wall, a literary device used by the writers for humorous effect and running gags.Spider-Man Mask v1 3D print modelSpider-Man Mask v1The mask has removable eyesFile format: 3Ds,OBJ,STL.Spider-Man is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Spinosaurus was among the largest of all known carnivorous dinosaurs, nearly as large as or even larger than Tyrannosaurus or the less familiar Giganotosaurus. Scientists believe it lived on land and in the sea eating both aquatic and terrestrial prey. Best known for his sail fins and arms similar to the Tyrannosaurus with sharp claws.

Zootrope du 19ième siècle – Activité éducative 3D Print Model

    Summary

    Overview and Background
    Objectifs d’apprentissage
Cette activité permettra aux élèves de :
    i) Apprendre comment un zootrope crée une impression de mouvement au moyen d’une série d’images fixes;
    Lesson Plan and Activity
    i. Optez pour la simplicité.
ii.
    Materials Needed
    1 – Ensemble tridimensionnel de parties du zootrope (« zootrope-base-modifié.stl » et « zootrope-support-modifié.stl »)
1 – Modèle imprimé de tambour de zootrope^
    1 – Ciseaux

  • Marblevator, Mechanisms 3D Print Model

    Marblevator, Mechanisms 3D Print Model

    Summary
“Marblevator, Mechanisms” is the latest in my Marblevator series of marble machines. My fascination with gears, mechanisms, marble machines and history formed my inspiration for this model.
A video of Marblevator, Mechanisms in action is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bl2-R0jftvw.
The model incorporates two antique mechanisms; a “Peaucellier–Lipkin” straight line mechanism (vintage 1864), and a “Whitworth” quick return mechanism (vintage 1800’s) that, when combined as they are in this design, provide a straight line slow ascent, and a straight line rapid descent. In this model, these combined functions are use to slowly raise a bucket containing a marble (an 8mm ball bearing) to the top of a short, built in, track, dump the marble onto the track, rapidly lower the bucket to pick up the marble at the bottom of the track, and then repeat the process.
I’ve included a sketch illustrating the method I used to compute the bar lengths for the straight line mechanism. If you have any questions about the illustration leave a comment and I’ll do my best to answer.
As usual, I probably forgot a file or two or who knows what else, so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask as I do make mistakes in plenty.
Designed using Autodesk Fusion 360, sliced using Cura 3.3.1 and printed in PLA on both an Ultimaker 2+ Extended and an Ultimaker 3 Extended.

How I Printed and Assembled Marblevator, Mechanisms.
Purchase, Print and Prepare the Parts.
Marblevator, Mechanisms requires a 300 rpm gear motor (33x12mm 300RPM Metal Mini DC 6V Gearbox Gearwheel Motor Mini Reduce Speed Geared Electric Motor), a 1.5 vdc power supply, and an 8mm (3/8″) ball bearing.
I printed “Bucket.stl” with .1mm layer height and 100% infill. I printed the remaining parts at .15mm layer height with 15% infill. I printed two “Bolt, 4.2mm shoulder.stl”, four “Bolt, 8.4mm shoulder.stl”, four “Arm, DB.stl” and one each of the remaining parts.
Prior to starting assembly, test fit and trim, file, sand, etc. all parts as necessary for smooth movement of moving surfaces, and tight fit for non moving surfaces. Depending on the colors you chose and your printer settings, more or less trimming, filing and/or sanding may be required. Carefully file all edges that contacted the build plate to make absolutely sure that all build plate “ooze” is removed and that all edges are smooth. I used small jewelers files and plenty of patience to perform this step.
Marblevator, Mechanisms uses threaded assembly, thus a tap and die set ((M4 by 0.7, M6 by 1) may be required for thread cleaning.
Assemble the Upper Arm (Arm CD).

Position the first “Arm, DB.stl” onto “Arm, CD.stl” as shown.

Position the second “Arm, DB.stl” onto the first as shown.

Secure the three arms together with the first “Bolt, 8.4mm shoulder.stl” as shown.

This is the upper arm assembly.

Assemble the Lower Arm (Arm CE).

Position the third “Arm, DB.stl” onto “Arm, CE.stl” as shown.

Position the fourth “Arm, DB.stl” onto the third as shown.

Secure the three arms together with the second “Bolt, 8.4mm shoulder.stl”.

This is the lower arm assembly.

    Assemble the Mechanisms.

Position the upper and lower arms together as shown, then position “Bucket.stl” into position as shown and secure the bucket and arms together using the third “Bolt, 8.4mm shoulder.stl”

Secure the remaining two arms together by positioning “Arm, Wheel.stl” as shown then secure the arms together using the fourth “Bolt, 8.4mm shoulder.stl as shown.

    This is the mechanism assembly.

Attach the Mechanism Assembly to the Base.

Position the mechanism assembly on “Base.stl” as shown.

Position “Wheel, Geared (64 teeth).stl” as shown.

Secure “Arm, Wheel Geared.stl” to the base with the first “Bolt, 4.2mm shoulder.stl”.

Secure “Wheel, Geared (64 teeth).stl” using “Axle, Wheel Geared.stl”. The axle will travel through the center hole in the geared wheel, through the free hole in the lower arm assembly, throughout the free hole in the upper arm assembly, then into the threads in the base.

Attach the Mechanisms to Wheel, Geared (64 Teeth).stl.

Position “Arm, Wheel.stl” as shown then secure it to “Wheel, Geared (64 teeth).stl” using the second “Bolt, 4.2mm shoulder.stl”.

At this point, “Wheel, Geared (64 teeth.stl)” should easily rotate and the mechanism should work smoothly. If any binding occurs, make sure the arms are positioned properly and the bolts are not over tightened.

    Attach the Gate.

Position “Gate.stl” onto the base assembly as shown, then secure it in place with “Axle, Gate.stl”.

    Final Assembly.

Press “Gear, Spur (8 teeth).stl” onto the motor shaft as shown, then slide the assembly into the base until “Gear, Spur (8 teeth).stl” aligns with the teeth on “Wheel, Geared (64 teeth).stl”

Apply 1.5vdc to the motor such that “Wheel, Geared (64 teeth).stl” rotates counter-clockwise when viewed from the front.

That’s how I printed and assembled “Marblevator, Mechanisms”!

    Hope you enjoy it!

Thermally calibrated filament will help with maintaining the crispness of the fine detail and eliminate any under or over extrusion. One of these two calibration methods below is highly recommended.

The engraved version is prone to getting little strings across the engraved letters if retraction is not well tuned. Tune retraction for small close distance features. What strings you may still get can be cleaned up nice with a hobby knife.
