[B]The Palace of Culture and Science (PKiN, formerly the Palace of Culture and Science of Joseph Stalin) – the tallest building in Poland (in terms of total height), located in the city of Warsaw on the square Defilad 1. The owner of the building is the capital city of Warsaw. The palace is the seat of the Council of m.st. Warsaw, which is sitting in the Warsaw Hall. Managed by the municipal company Management of Palace of Culture and Science Sp. with o.o. Since 2007 the building has been listed in the Register of Historic Monuments.The palace was the “gift of the Soviet people to the Polish people.” Built in the years 1952-1955, designed by the Soviet architect Leo Rudniew, the building is inspired by Moscow skyscrapers, which in turn are inspired by American art deco décors. Architecturally it is a mix of socialist realism and Polish history. It is the tallest building in Poland.
