Fernandes Stratocaster 3D Model
Fernandes Guitars is a guitar and accessory manufacturer, that originated in Japan in 1969, building flamenco guitars. As the company grew it expanded production to include more acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, amplifiers, and accessories to become one of the biggest guitar manufacturers in Japan. Fernandes also owns a brand for Gibson replicas: Burny.
Despite its high production figures, Fernandes is better known in the United States for its Sustainer system, which uses electromagnetism to vibrate a string for an extended period, so long as the user continues to fret a note. Unlike the similar manual E-Bow sustainer, the Fernandes Sustainer can be used with a standard plectrum, because the sustainer is imbedded in the body of guitar. Fernandes’ custom shop has installed numerous Sustainers into guitars built by other manufacturers.
Fernandes continues to manufacture guitars, that cover the range from inexpensive starter models to custom instruments.
In 2000, Fernandes made a guitar to promote the video game UmJammer Lammy, similar to Lammy’s guitars. -

DD tanks (the DD standing for Duplex Drive, but nicknamed Donald Duck tanks), were a type of amphibious swimming tank developed by the British during the Second World War. The phrase is mostly used for the Duplex Drive variant of the M4 Sherman tank, that was used by the Western Allies during and after the Normandy Landings in June 1944.
DD tanks worked by erecting a ‘flotation screen’ around the tank, which enabled it to float, and had a propeller powered by the tank’s engine to drive them in the water.
The DD tanks were one of the many specialised assault vehicles, collectively known as Hobart‘s Funnies, devised to support the planned invasion of Europe. -
Fidget Spinner – 3 Curved Wings 3D Print Model
Summary
Simple design requiring a 608 bearing and 2 end caps. I use PLA and have calibrated my printer so that the hole is a press-fit with the bearing.
How I Designed This
Fusion 360 is really excellent for design these days. It is free for hobbyists as well. Takes a while to learn, but they’ve added integration with 3d-printers, so you can send your design directly to your software, such as Repetier Host. It also exports to stl (which is how I get the files for thingiverse). My 10-year-old can now design his own spinners. -
608 Bearing Fit Test 3D Print Model
Summary
This is my test for 608 (repeat… “608” bearings. I had a typo of “609” that is in the filename.) I used it to calibrate my printer so that the hole fits a 608 bearing with a press-fit. You can also compute a multiplier for scaling a fidget spinner with this. Hope it helps.

Linear Servo HiTEC HS-645MG 3D Print Model
Summary
A linear servo for HiTEC HS-645MG Ultra Torque metal gear servos capable of lifting ten pounds, with a 50mm reach. After searching thingiverse for a robust, 3D printable linear servo, I found several with very fine teeth which would not provide enough holding force and would require tight tolerances. Furthermore, the 3D-printed gears had nothing to prevent slipping on the servo axle. I designed my own last night using a HiTEC MG servo and created a gear with holes aligned to the HiTEC servo horns. It can work with any HiTEC servo of this size. The metal gears just make it stronger for robotics and less likely to wear out.

Fidget Spinner – 608 Bearing Cap 3D Print Model
Summary
I designed this end cap to be able to remove them without breaking them. I have printed a dozen in every color I have, and the neighborhood kids love to swap them in and out for the spinners we print, as well as the ones they buy or trade for with friends. Not much to it, but they like the variety of colors.
Tip for printing… don’t just print 1 at a time. Print at least 4. This allows the thin layers at top to cool while the printer moves to the next piece. I do 12 at a time, and have a bowl full now. -
