Glass Cabinet 3D Model
Glass Cabinet that was inspired by a glass cabinet that I own and re-created using Blender. This model set uses PBR textures and was made using the metalness workflow. Included with the model are several different textures for customization. Also included is a texture of the UVLayout for the model so that you can easily see how each part of the model is divided.This is a glass cabinet that makes use of the alpha channel on its diffuse map to create transparency for the glass walls, doors and shelves. There is also a diffuse map that does not use the alpha channel and a separate opacity map. It has a lock on the front glass door which uses a metallic map to make it metal. There are also rubber stops on the front glass door located on either side. Each shelf rests on 4 rubber pegs that stick out from each corner of the cabinet. Instructions
This is a laser-cutter project, which will require a supply of acrylic sheet and a laser cutter able to cut at least 1/8″ (3mm) acrylic. The model can be made entirely of plain clear acrylic, or the pins, key, or other parts can optionally be made of colored acrylic.
The file PinTumblerLock.dxf contains all the cutting and engraving patterns in separate layers. Lines in yellow are meant to be engraved, all other colors of line should be cut. Use the speed and power settings appropriate for your laser cutter: every one is different.
There are three layers in the DXF file:
A1 should be cut in 1/16″ (1.6mm) acrylic
A3 should be cut in 1/8″ (3mm) acrylic
G should be cut in 0.020 PETG or similar film.
The thicknesses can be changed if you like, just adjust the length of the screws that hold the model together to match the total thickness of the material you choose to use. The key and barrel part must add up the nearly the same thickness as the body of the lock (e.g. 1/16 + 1/16 = 1/8 as specified). The PETG film can be anything you like that is about 0.5mm thick. Its purpose is to provide a bit of space so the moving parts can slide freely. Only the A1 layer must be clear: all the other parts could be opaque if you like. (The model is particularly attractive if you make the upper and lower pins out of differently-colored plastic.)

Lock Lesson
Locks are by their nature secret, but this one lets you see inside to understand exactly how the key serves to communicate a secret code to the pins of the lock, allowing it to open.
Materials Needed
Materials needed
(1) Approximately 8″ x 8″ (200mm x 200mm) piece of 1/16″ (1.6mm) clear acrylic.
(1) Approximately 4″ x 4″ (100mm x 100mm) piece of 1/8″ (3mm) clear acrylic.
(1) Approximately 4″ x 4″ (100mm x 100mm) piece of 0.020 PETG or similar film material. (Exact thickness is not important, it is used as a spacer to allow the moving parts to slide freely.)
(2) Optionally, approximately 1″ x 2″ (25mm x 50mm) pieces of 1/8″ (3mm) colored translucent or opaque acrylic.
(5) 1/8″ (3mm) x 1″ (25mm) very light spring.
(6) #2 x 5/16″ round-head machine screw (or metric M2 x 8)

Combination Lock – work in progress 3D Print Model
Summary
This is my attempt at reverse engineering the combination lock created by UGears for their wood safe (https://ugearsmodels.com/safe.html).
I assumed 4mm laser-cut plywood ot MDF, but a simple proportional resize of the DXF will adjust the plans to other thicknesses.
It should be fairly functional by now but I don’t have access to a laser cutter in the next few months so I will leave it here as it is so anybody can rework it and integrate it on their projects.
As an assembly guide and visual aid you can Google for the official UGears’ user guide PDF.
As I drew all components using only intuition and visual acumen, you can’t really use the code tables displayed in the manual, but I believe a similar one can be extrapolated by toying around with the SketchUp model I provided. -

I bought a lock door system from the store, painted the button and removed the metal ring to replace it with this customized one.

How I Designed This
Design
I designed this in OnShape but created a sketch with pencil on paper first. Dimensions are based on what I thought should work out.Parts and steps
Pins
To assemble this lock you need to make pins out of 3mm screws, just saw the top off and make a small incision on one side of the pin to be able to screw them into the parts.
Needed for one lock is a four 3mm screws cut-off to a length of two times 6mm and two times 10mm. Blocks
The blocks can be sliced from 7mm for printing without support material. After printing cleanup both parts of the block and apply a tiny bit of glue before assembling. Holes
Drill the holes to 3mm. You need four screws, rings and nuts to mount this onto the case. See the pictures for the endresult.

Move the top over the block
Press the clip down and the lock is shut!

This is a fast lock floor mount for my Lixit Corporation Food and Water dishes that normally mount to the cage wall and twist lock in and out. I love the dishes so I made mounts to move them everywhere I want my bird to be.
