Ryujo (“Prancing Dragon”) was a light aircraft carrier built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) during the early 1930s. Small and lightly built in an attempt to exploit a loophole in the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922, she proved to be top-heavy and only marginally stable and was back in the shipyard for modifications to address those issues within a year of completion. With her stability improved, Ryujo returned to service and was employed in operations during the Second Sino-Japanese War. During World War II, she provided air support for operations in the Philippines, Malaya, and the Dutch East Indies, where her aircraft participated in the Second Battle of the Java Sea. During the Indian Ocean raid in April 1942, the carrier attacked British merchant shipping with both her guns and her aircraft. Ryujo next participated in the Battle of the Aleutian Islands in June. During the Pacific War, she participated in the Battle of Wake Island in December 1941 and the occupations of New Guinea and the Solomon Islands in early 1942. Mutsuki was one of the escorts for the invasion force during the Battle of the Coral Sea in May and then participated in the Guadalcanal Campaign later that year. Mogami was the lead ship in the four-vessel Mogami class of heavy cruisers in the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was named after the Mogami River in Tohoku region of Japan. The Mogami-class ships were constructed as “light cruisers” (per the Washington Naval Treaty) with five triple 6.1-inch dual purpose guns. They were exceptionally large for light cruisers, and the barbettes for the main battery were designed for quick refitting with twin 8-inch guns. In 1937 all four ships were “converted” to heavy cruisers in this fashion. Hiryu (“Flying Dragon”) was an aircraft carrier built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) during the 1930s. The only ship of her class, she was built to a modified Soryu design.[Note 1] Her aircraft supported the Japanese invasion of French Indochina in mid-1940. During the first month of the Pacific War, she took part in the attack on Pearl Harbor and the Battle of Wake Island. The ship supported the conquest of the Dutch East Indies in January 1942. The following month, her aircraft bombed Darwin, Australia, and continued to assist in the Dutch East Indies campaign. In April, Hiryu’s aircraft helped sink two British heavy cruisers and several merchant ships during the Indian Ocean raid.After a brief refit, Hiryu and three other fleet carriers of the First Air Fleet (Kido Butai) participated in the Battle of Midway in June 1942. After bombarding American forces on the atoll, the carriers were attacked by aircraft from Midway and the carriers USS Enterprise, Hornet, and Yorktown. Dive bombers from Yorktown and Enterprise crippled Hiryu and set her afire. She was scuttled the following day after it became clear that she could not be salvaged. I have created a land forces coordination headquarters modification of this ship that can also act as a deep space holo-communication ship. This ship, unlike the original one, has 8 turbolasers and a few antennas, as well as some detectors and jamming devises. The archive contains both the ”max” files and two simple textures for the v-ray rendering.The model is a high-poly one that can be used for doing many things including video creation.You can delete some additional parts and details if you want to have the original ship.There is also a max 2010 version of the file.You can use this model for fan & video projects or visualisation.I hope you will like it! Summary
If you lose a die or can’t buy extras because they seem to be out of stock almost everywhere- here you go. Not sure how balanced they are but they were fun to make. Have only printed the red die so far and the symbols on the sides came out nicely, while the symbols on the top and bottom were too shallow. I have tried to adjust this by making the top and bottom symbols slightly deeper but am yet to test how this turn out. I intend to print with filament on the appropriate colour and then use black or white paint to make the symbols stand out.
