Ornate Hinge Butterfly – Swallowtail 3D Print Model
Summary
This is a re-imagined concept of a hinge butterfly, designed to resemble a swallowtail butterfly. I have included 3 different versions with varying amount of holes. These butterflies make excellent decoration when glued into position.

How I Designed This
I designed this using Autodesk Inventor, and made a very simple hinge from which the butterfly was created. -

Laser cut living hinge box 3D Print Model
Summary
Introduction
I remixed this design to extend the lip of the lid to give you something to grab onto.
For now, I’m just using a rubber band for closure.
Materials
1/8″ plywood (I used Baltic birch)
Special instructions
Try to cut the hinge in the direction of the grain, so it’s easier to bend.
Use a damp (not dripping) paper towel to wet the hinge area. This will allow the hinge to bend without breaking. Use a rubber band to hold the hinge closed while damp to allow the wood to retain this position.
Glue and assemble, then clamp as needed.

Anet A8 Fan Hinge V2 3D Print Model

A remix of a Mod for easily accessing the extruder gear.

Remove the support material holding the hinge arm and inside the screw hole. Get a long M4 screw (not sure how long mine is, whatever screw you use in your existing fan hinge configuration should work). Remove the top left screw holding onto the top left linear bearing and install the mod there. Optionally, remove the screw under the top left-most screw for a smoother hinge.
How I Designed This
Design
I simply took bartoaster’s awesome Anet A8 fan hinge (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2380825) and beefed it up in 123D Design. I then cleaned it up in Blender. -

Commodore 64 Rear Case Hinge Tabs 3D Print Model
Summary
Replacement tab / hinge for repairing the rear upper section of a Commodore 64 “breadbin” style case.

Post-Printing
If you are printing the tabs using PLA, you might want to use an epoxy to stick these to your case. They don’t seem to stick very well when clamped to the case and fastened with Super Glue. I took a Dremel and sanded down the broken tabs so they were even with the rest of the lip of the case, then fastened these over the broken section. -

Bimini Hinge Saddle 3D Print Model
Summary
This saddle sits between some boat bimini brackets/hinges and the top edge of the side windshield. It allows an interface between the flat bottom of the bracket/hinge with the curved surface of the windshield. I made this to replace a damaged one from my early 90s Sea Ray. It may fit other models. -
Door Hinge Straight Pin 3D Print Model
Summary
A storm door had failed due faulty parts that help the hinges to the door frame. The faulty parts were hard to find. Instead of buying a whole new storm door, they were 3D printed. The door is now in working order!

Essentially, the print is a straight cylinder object. A total of three hinges needed two of these prints each, making for six total prints. The build is thick enough so they will not slip out of position. A pair of pliers are needed for installing the door hinge “straight pins”.
Updates to the print to come (if the 3D prints fail).
Post-Printing
Necessary Modifications to Build
Layer Height: 0.20mm (instead of 10mm)
Infill: 15% (instead of 10%)
Number of Shells: 3 (instead of 2)
The changed settings above reflect a much stronger print. Necessary for holding a heavy door’s hinges in place to the door frame. The stock parts were a material material.
The rest of the settings were left alone.

Wanhao door hinge 3D Print Model
Summary
Wanhao removable door hinge
That door made me a little angry some times so I made this hinge that I can just remove the door when its in the way.
Has magic inside that holds the door open when its open. I didn’t make it that way, it just happened.
Could do with tightening where it clips together, but it seems to work fine how it is. -
