    print @ 0.06 res because I like the finish, no need to process it…
    I’m sure that if you’re not concerned with aesthetic you can go way higher…
    the only thing I’m not sure of is the infill, I was thinking of printing with 100% but then I changed for my default 25%… I’ll let know if they survive on my Mac.
    I’ve opted not to model the ridge in the middle but to make them concave for best adhesion
    I’ve glued them with a dab of rubber cement… maybe let me know if you know a better glue for bonding aluminum and pla…

    Cooling Fan Spacer for A6 with lights 3D Print Model

    Summary
    The original fan spacer works great. I wanted some light down by the print nozzle, so I could watch the print without using a flashlight. I modified the spacer to add an area for LEDs. I stuck a small strip of LEDs on and wired them into the extruder fan power.
    I’m quite happy with the result. Soldering into the existing fan wiring (while it was still on the printer) was a bit of a PITA. I didn’t want to completely undo the loom and remove the fan from the printer, so that’s how it had to be. Still, well worth it.

    I printed at 100% infill. Once you print the walls, there’s not much left on the inside I figured why not. Print with supports and a brim. Print in the orientation shown on the model here. Its minimal support and it comes off very easily.

    LEDs
    I bought a meter long strip of 12v LEDs for about $1. I cut off a 45mm section and attached it to the bottom of this part. I soldered on servo wire, and then soldered those wires to the power leads going to the extruder fan. For extra security, I put some Kapton tape around the LED strip as well (also to cover up the exposed solder points).

    If you look up desert style buildings, many of them have an old but effective way to cool the buildings. They have these towers on top that let all the hot air rise and bleed out leaving cool air in the building.
    This is shown with a bunker design I made, but it can go on top of any building or just on top of a mound.

    I was looking for a cooling duct for my Balco Touch 3D Printer (duplicator i3 Plus clone) that used the stock 40mm fan and liked the one created for the i3 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:969338) However the position of the cooling ring, the mount, fan mount and the depth did not fit my printer. I therefore modified the design to offset the cooling ring, correct the mounting, depth and fan mount to fit. This is the result which should fit any i3 Plus or clone with a stock 40mm fan.

    I wanted to upgrade my MP select mini (V1) with an e3d hot end, but couldn’t find a holder for it that didn’t require an additional new fan. The closest I could find was Toolboxx’s upgrade for a single fan, but that still assumed I would be switching out the fan for a 40mm fan. So I did a simple remix.
    All the 3D printed parts you need are included. You will need 2 M3x15mm screws and M3 bolts.

    I decided to take a different approach to cooling…..I actually removed the shroud entirely! The problem with using typical style ducts in the first place is that no matter how open you make it, there’s always backdraft on your fan blades, meaning the pressure finds the path of the least resistance, and while one of those paths is your duct hole(s), some of them aren’t Using any style duct, if you feel behind the fan blades, you can feel this backdraft.

    A simple direct-contact water block, with 1/4″ hose barbs, originally designed for “60w” thermoelectric coolers.
    This device puts the water in direct contact with the object to be cooled, so don’t use it for CPUs or really anything valuable.
    Requires a seal – I designed the gland to fit a 218 silicone O-ring (McMaster-Carr #1283N91); it seals really well that way. However, you could just cut a seal out of neoprene or something, or use gasket maker to seal it up.

    This is a part cooling fan for the CubeX and possibly Cube Pro 3D (not verified) printers. It uses a centrifugal blower (see specs below). The blower spacing is for using extruders 1 and 3. Remember to print two ducts. I will eventually upload a plenum for a 1-2, 2-3, and 1-2-3 option. Constructive feedback is appreciated.
    These files are a work in progress. I prefer to have all my parts snap together without fasteners, but the plenum will need to be glued in place for now until I finalize the design.

    Use PETG or ABS.
    The models print easily with no supports.
    The ducts require a raft so that they don’t get knocked over. If you flip them around the other way, the overhang is too extreme for PETG (on my printer at least).
    Post-Printing
    Assembly
    1) Clean prints of stringing, blogs, and check internals for blockage.
    2) Glue the plenum to the bracket with super glue. I use tape to align and secure it until the glue dries.
    3) Snap in the two ducts.The ducts snap into place as long as your printer is well calibrated.
    4) Screw the assembly onto the front of the carriage using the two outside screw holes where the OEM fan attaches.
    5) Slide in the fan wires through the slot and snap fan into place. The blue wire is not used.
    6) Connect power to your preferred source on your control board, or build a fused circuit directly from the power supply. Make sure you get the correct voltage fan for your 3d printer.
